recently exposed footage of ‘downer’ animals being abused at slaughterhouses has pushed me over the edge. i am not opposed to eating meat and i think that it is natural. what i find disgusting is the treatment of animals in some large commercial operations. I do not want any part of this. i am done with mystery meat from the store. no more meat for me unless i know exactly where it has come from.
This is easy to do. It’s better than not being vegetarian at all. I eat soy when I can and I try not to buy leather or down.
Just can’t live without meat!!!!!! I wish I could… It would be a lot healthier. Unfortunately, it made me really sad…
steak frites, steak tartare, pepper steak, buritos, steak b any grilled steak, polish sausage, pigs in a blanket, BLT sandwiches, roast beef sandwiches, occasionally- and inexplicably because they are not good- arby’s sandwiches, Club sandwiches, Hamburgers, Dick’s Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Meatballs, pate, foie gras, roasted chicken, left-over thanksgiving turkey and cranberry sandwiches, taco bell gorditas (?), corn dogs and coq au vin.
for about two months now. I’m enjoying myself, even in France where MEAT is KING. It works out nicely because I end up eating healthier in most cases except I eat tons of cheese. Okay, maybe not TONS, but enough. It’s good, and I can’t say I miss the meat a lot. Maybe a little bit every once in a while when something smells really good and is being really well-prepared, but even then, I think about what can (and sometimes does) happen to my digestive process when I eat said food, and usually I get over the craving.
Anyhoo, being a ovo-lacto-pesco-vegetarian is good and you can still eat delicious food even while slightly limiting your ability to choose. And you get to be pretentious and say you’re an ovo-lacto-pesco-vegetarian. :)
I was first a semi-vegetarian, then a total vegetarian, and finally settled on being a pesco-vegetarian (took me about 5 years to come to that decision.) I eat fish, but no other meat. I think I like this balance a lot better.
I’ve been a hypocrite – vegetarian (that’s how i call myself) for three years now.
I stopped eating meat completely, but do eat fish every once in a while (= average max. once a week).
I do eat eggs and cheese, and i also drink milk, but only organic.
Sometimes i have a craving for meat (burgers mainly), but it doesn’t cost any energy not to give in to it.
Defenitely worth doing, not only for your own health, but also for the world we live in.
