I’ve been trying to do that for the last few days but I can’t find the right words. Everything I write is trite or clumsily bombastic. Yet I feel genuinely grateful to the teacher I’m thinking of. He was my 4th grade teacher and he’s one of the very few persons who treated me with respect when I was a kid.
So utterly frustrating.

My college professors are usually.. less than enthusiastic.. every semester at the school I go to. For the most part, they’re awful and less than helpful. In the four years I’ve been there, there are about three professors who have just been awesome and actually made class enjoyable.
Before I graduate, I want to write them a letter and let them know how great and inspiring they are.

I have had some great experiences and I want to thank them.
i really want to write thank you letters to some of my old teachers from middle school…
janice (my advisor); azmi (my other advisor)
cynthia (lovely woman, lovely english teacher… but she just visited me)
uhm, i think i’ll start with janice.
the problem is getting started – what do you say besides “thank you for everything?”
I wrote two of my favorite teachers from high school and always send cards to my favorite professors from college at the holidays.
I was pleased and surprised to get a response. Even without that I know that it means a lot to give people recognition and let them know you are thinking of them.
she had such a love of life and literature that I recently tracked her down and sent her a thank you.
i wrote a thank you letter to a teacher my freshman year in high school and she totally loved it! it not only makes you feel good, but it shows the teacher that she is appreciated!
so yeah!
I really would like to write some of my teachers from the past. I typically write them just to say hi and keep them a little updated on my life. I figure it lets them know that I care and that they have impacted me.
Lately I struggle with this. Most of my ‘favorite teachers’ have been men. I figure this is because teaching is not a high paying profession, so the men that are teaching are really doing it for the love. They just seem to really put themselves into what they do and make it more interesting.
I really don’t want to make their wives worry about things. I think I just over analyze things. I really need to just do it and have no regrets. Most people would enjoy getting a letter to know that what they are doing is beneficial. Especially with that measley salary.
