A friend of mine said, “Let’s go see some movies at the drive-in theatre with Calynn. They’re doing a double feature.” I went with them and along the way, we bought a pizza. We saw some mediocre films, (Year One and Land of the Lost) made fun of them, practiced unusual ways of getting in and out of cars and sang along to cheesy rock music on the way back. I think we all felt a lot closer even though I had to move the very next day and I haven’t seen either of them since then.
It’s a nice memory of those friends. I miss them.

justjoan917 is enjoying the sunshine and can't wait for the weekend.
I have the most wonderful memories of going to the drive-in theatre with my family. We’d actually park our station wagon with the back facing the screen, be in our pajamas and have lots of pillows and blankets back there. We’d get to stay back there for the drive home…before seat belts!!! My favorite drive-in movie was “Jungle Book.” I should do this again.

I’ve done this before, with my family, but I’d like to go just with one other person. Wink, wink.

sadly, since drive in theatres only have business in the spring and summer mainly, they are slowly disappearing off the map.
growing up in wichita, ks, i loved going to the drive-in. it meant as a child i could stay up late and watch movies and finally pass out in the well-blanketed and cushioned bed of a truck when tired.
it seems like everyone knows that one jingle from growing up – for some people it’s alka-seltzer, for where i live now in manhattan, ks it’s pizza shuttle, and for me, it’s “The starlite drive-in gives you more call 524-24-24…” It’s so catchy you can’t forget it.

my boyfriend is from manhattan, ks and has never been to one so i plan on taking him on his 21st birthday! :)
