ooooh, widgets!!!season's over

and we ended with a perfect record! Yep, all our games in one column. Which column, you ask? Oh, details aren’t important. It was something to look forward to each week, we had fun, and I had my share of good plays. I’ll check out what kind of leagues they’re running next season, maybe I’ll get in on another one. 5 years ago

ooooh, widgets!!!still unfeated

Try as they may, no team has yet been able to end our un-winning streak! Tonight, another chance. 5 years ago

ooooh, widgets!!!Met the rest of my team tonight,

as everyone showed up this week. They’re a cool bunch, I’m more hyped now about the rest of the season. I even caught a pass tonight, which got us a first down in a possesion that we scored on…woo-hoo! My left knee took a beating in my moment of glory, and as I write, it’s taking on what looks to be a lovely shade of blue. So now, between my reception and my stiff knee, I feel all official. Play on, playa. 5 years ago

ooooh, widgets!!!Season's started!

We scrimmaged last week, so I got to meet my team and play our first game. Boy, did we take a whoopin, but I had a blast anyway. Our team was missing a few members, so I got to play the whole game. Defensively I held my own, offensively, I only got to touch the ball when I hiked it. Most of my team already knew each other, and they’re taking the league pretty seriously. I signed up for the social aspect, they’re in it to be competitive. I’ll have to be more aggressive when we’re warming up next week so that they’ll trust me to be more involved in the play. And if we’re not all gonna be buddies, I can still get to know the other teams at the happy hours the league sponsors afterwards. 5 years ago

ooooh, widgets!!!one stone, many birds

I just signed up for a summer co-ed touch football league. I don’t know yet exactly how many girls are gonna be on my team, but since there must be at least 4 of us on the field at all times, I’m expecting to see a decent amount of play time.
And let me say that I don’t actually want to crush anyone’s bones (after all, it’s only touch, and going around crushing bones would probably get me booted off the team), and I certainly don’t want my own crushed (as this would just as surely end my season). But ‘play football’ didn’t sound as exciting, and besides, I already know I’m going to play, the only question is…how well?

Season starts in June, I can’t wait. Luckily, I have a few months to get myself into better shape so that I’m not panting and stumbling up and down the field.

As a bonus, just look at all the 43T goal possibilities here! I’ll start jogging and maybe finally join that gym to get ready for the season. Once we start playing I’m sure to make more guy friends, and my time on the sidelines will help me get better at small talk. Maybe I can start conversations by collecting porn names. I’ll give 1000 cheers to egg my team on (that one was terrible), and write Haiku about our triumphs.

Okay, I’m starting to stretch too far, so I’ll stop. But yeah. So excited. 5 years ago
