I just got back from running a 5k this morning. It was a completely flat course so made going fast easy. My goal was 23:59, and I ended up finishing in 22:04.82 according to my watch. My official time was 22:12 – that was gun time though, they didn’t use timing mats at the start. I’m thrilled and I don’t plan on doing any more 5k’s until at least January, so I can’t wait to see how much I can improve my time then.

How I did it: I ran for distance once per week and for speed once per week for the last 3 months. That's when I ran my first 5k in 25:52. On speed days I did sprinting and jogging intervals, with no walking, for 20 minutes. Read how I did it…

I ran a 5k last weekend and my gun time was 24:32. Unfortunately the race didn’t use timing chips so I don’t know what my start time was, but I think I finished in 24:00 give or take 5 seconds. I won’t mark this goal as done since I don’t know my exact time, and now I have to find another 5k to run in to beat 24:00.
I did a midnight 5k (Firecracker 5000) last night and finished in 24:17. The course was hilly the whole way so I think I should be able to get under 24:00 at my course next week.
I just started running a few months ago. My first 5k I ran in 25:52 (6 weeks ago). My second in 25:08 (9 days ago), and my third in 25:22 (2 days ago), but it had a big hill. I think I could probably do a flat course in 25:00 right now, and I’m hoping to get down to 24:00 by my next race, which is July 11. If I don’t make it then, I probably won’t run another 5k until November. I do have an 8k and a couple 10k’s planned between now and then though.
Fridays 5k was tough. It was very warm but my legs wouldn’t operate they just felt like lead. So i was well slow 26:42 or something like that. But i’ll be back next month
That was my time in January a new pb so have 24 seconds to find to reach this goal. Have another in a weeks time well on Friday. Last Month i did 25:25. did have a little injury in Feb but i’m back running now so don’t know how i’m going to fare this month. We shall see
