Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Akri_keeps_it_silentHumanity needs more

I look around everyday and I don’t see a change. People die, people starve and some even beg for mercy. What mercy? We never show that. We all go by the old saying: “the powerful are to survive”. But what if the powerful doesn’t mean the best?
We are the ones destroying the world. We pry ourselves as being the supreme race and we never once realized that to all he-man scene is just that… a scene.
We won’t help the other nations, we wont even help our own neighbors. The change starts with one, but when that one person finds a wall in front, all his efforts are worthless.
We can’t save ourselves and let the planet die. Time is the one deciding which will survive, but right now, my guess is that none of us. We’re not worth the trouble. We should by changing that. 4 years ago

purely all of itDO something about the Federal Government

All the news recently has been casually hinting/making sarcastic statements about the obviousness of the Federal Governments INCOMPETENCE.

Though I wait patiently until the end of the long winded broadcasts, there is no solace in the end where the news caster speaks the words, “and here is a list of things YOU can do about it”

purely all of itI found a petition to SAVE DARFUR!

Save Darfur!Sign this petition!

I also put this link on my Myspace. I feel good about signing this petition, but I dont feel like signing a petition is really enough. I want to personally deliver food into the hands of the hungry.

One of my other goals here is to get rid of my unecessary stuff, so I’m donating it. That feels good too.

I would like to volunteer somewhere, and may soon have the opportunity.

In the past I’d wanted to go places and do things for my own personal gain, and I couldn’t because I was nervous and shy, but doing things for other people is alot easier, it comes more naturally, and it feels better. 7 years ago

WideEyedI do what I can

I quit my corporate job to start a non profit that assists people relocating after a disaster. I love it. No money, true, but I am happier each time I do something for another human being. It’s rough, and I struggle somedays to stay afloat, but I have been featired on local, national, and international news for the effort. And I am proud that I built it form the ground up in les than 12 weeks! So helping Humanity really should be my #1 “Thing” 8 years ago
