New Moon comes out this Friday! Hubby and I talked my mom into driving the 200 miles it takes to get here, so she can babysit Saturday afternoon…we’re going to the movies! It’s a date. We put “movie money” into the budget and everything. If we hit up a matinee it shouldn’t be so busy (keep dreaming, right?) and afterward we’ll stop and grab groceries for Thanksgiving.
Excited!

Well, now we have a baby. Who is still on a breathing monitor and can’t be trusted with anyone else. So our dates have to be modified a bit. We talked tonight and got some “in-home” ideas…this Friday night we’re having a Movie Night (yes, the capitalization is necessary, haha). We really want to continue the weekly mini-dates; winter will be loooong and boring if we’re cooped up with a preemie. Hubby works nights so most of this will be done in the evenings before he leaves for work. Movies will have to be on Friday/Saturday nights though, when he’s home.
Here are our other ideas thus far:
- Living room picnic dinners
- Sunday Sundaes (because YUM!)
- Game nights (heavy on the Scrabble)
- New recipe nights, where we cook a new recipe together
- Baking nights—cookies or brownies, cakes, doesn’t matter
It’s not much, and it’s very WASP and suburban, but…hopefully it will give us some small things to look forward to. And as Piper gets older, it will be nice for her to spend some quality time with us—goofy as it may be :)

Hubby and I are going to the ballet in December! The Nutcracker is performing and my mom got us two tickets as a Christmas gift. The theater we’re going to is super fancy and historic, and it has a restaurant next door. So we’ll go to the ballet and then have dinner, maybe walk around downtown and look at the Christmas decorations in the square. I can’t wait! :)

We’re going Frisbee golfing on Wednesday! He’s “packing a picnic,” or so he says. We’ll see if he remembers :)

While randomly driving around town today, we discovered the college’s Frisbee golf course. It’s free and really big. Might be something fun to do together once the weather warms up. It’s also low-impact so it would be good for me, being pregnant and all. All we need is a Frisbee!

Went to a movie this weekend. We haven’t been to the movies for a while now, and it was nice to get out and just relax. Plus the cherry Slushee and popcorn were awesome…almost better than the movie itself. It was a good night; we laughed a lot.

I just think this a great way to keep romance alive. Spice up our weekends a little, keep us both interested in each other. Preserving the fun and excitement of our relationship. I’ve already got some ideas for dates:
- Go on a picnic together. Eat, fish a little, relax.
- See a movie in the theater.
- Go for a long walk around the lake and just talk.
- Have a few drinks at the bar, play some pool, dance.
- Book a room at the local hotel and swim, hot tub….
- Paint our own pottery at the local pottery place.
- Go mini-golfing! We’re both pretty good, too.
- Reserve a lane at the bowling alley.
- Find a big hill and go sledding!
- Road trip to the nearest big city and explore.
- Go camping together once summer arrives.
- Head to the casino and gamble a little, watch some live shows.
- Bubble bath for two with candles, champagne
- See a movie at the drive-in.
- Shoot some hoops at the basketball court.
- Go to the field and play baseball.
- Buy and learn to fly a kite.
- See a play at the local amateur theater place.

mikkiz is happy with her life.....
Just moved to a new towne so it has been difficult to get out and about with my guy. We have had a few dates now that we have a sitter. I feel like a teenager again now that we can go out and date again. It can be fun to plan a weekly or bi-weekly date even if it is for a quick drink at the pub.
Hope we can keep this up…;)

We’ve done several things but this weeks date was to go to a local festival and walk around to see what there was to see. The festival sucked but the evening was great.
