Cook Thanksgiving dinner for my whole family

I may be able to complete this goal next year! Yay!

It looks like not only will this not happen for me this year but we may not be able to have Thanksgiving with family at all! My boyfriend has to work the day before and the day after so we don’t have time to drive down to the family and back. It’s sad really. I love Thanksgiving dinner. Oh well, it looks like it will be pizza in front of the boobtube year.

One year we were able to get the whole family together in one place the week of Thanksgiving. Since this is a rare occurence, we decided to celebrate the winter birthdays one night, Thanksgiving one night, Christmas Eve one night and Christmas the next. My sisters and I each hosted a different meal and planned menus so that we ate different foods for each.

What a blast! We were stuffed for the next month. I did the traditional Thanksgiving meal—turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. Since we were getting an enormous meal each night already, I didn’t feel like I had to have 14 side dishes or 4 pies, so it made it easy to just focus.

The really weird part was that all through December, we had no pressure. We were finished with gift giving on my side of the family and could focus that time on being with my husband’s family. It was really pleasant to just be present at one celebration.
