Walk a charity 5k

I’ll be making an effort to do more charity work this year. Walking a 5k to raise money is part of my goal.

(#6 on my list of resolutions for 09)

in September! I’m not counting it as done though since the walk is not timed.

I think I might sign up for a 5k.

I walked the Arthritis Walk 5K last year, and I’ve had rheumatoid arthritis for 31 years. I’ve had both feet reconstructed also. I figure if I can get out and do this, almost anyone can!

At the Arthritis Walk there are so many people; and it’s a positive, fun time. Just sign up for something in your area and make a difference!

I didn’t have any extra money to pay the entry fee for the St. Patti’s 5k and now it’s past the due date. :(
I guess I’ll have to shoot for an April 5k.

I have decided to sign up for the St. Patrick’s Day Dash 5k(Run/Walk/Crawl) in Seattle. Proceeds go to Detlef Schrempf Foundation. http://www.detlef.com/

I have also signed up for a Half Marathon in July! The St. Pati’s 5k is for fun but the Marathon is my real test.

I do the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana’s 5k all the time. It used to be a yearly thing my family did. I love it. You get excercise and raise money for a good cause.

I did this for the American Heart Association two days before Hurricane Katrina. So double bonus for me, because I got to see all those beautiful homes before they didn’t exist anymore. :(
