How I did it: I have a few friends who are really nerdy, so naturally we all had to get together to catch the Perseids Meteor Shower!
We made plans over the weekend. Got together some snacks, wood, chairs, and we drove out to Fivemile Pass. It was the perfect place, really flat so you could see all the way to the horizon without any obstructions. As the driver, I kind of freaked out when they started shouting in the car, but they all got that glimpse out the window of the Milky Way long before I did!
We set up camp and just looked up. I think I saw about 50 meteors in the three hours we were there. Lots of science jokes, laughter, and chocolate. A wonderful night. Read how I did it… 3 months ago
It was a weekend where all of us sisters were together again; there was news of a meteor shower that night and so we laid out a thin mattress out on the balcony and competed as to who could catch a falling star while singing out to the world all the songs we knew that had the word ‘star’ in it.
