Introduce people to classical music

Sometimes I feel sorry that I don’t have anyone close to me who appreciates classical music the way I do. I wonder if it is anything to do with the way that classical music tends to be treated as a kind of pleasant ‘muzak’ which isn’t meant to be listened to closely. Also the ‘Relaxing Classics’ type CDs don’t help, and I was slightly annoyed by the description by Classic FM of themselves as ‘the relaxation station’. Try Shostakovich’s 8th Symphony – definitely not relaxing… but wonderful!
