Barbara107 is killing time at work
consumerism is over rated
Here’s my dilemma…I consider myself pretty much a minimalist already, the problem came along, that is, my girlfriend came into my life (kidding, I love her dearly) and she is a major pack rat. You should see her desk alone, it nearly gives me a panic attack as I see it out of the corner of my eye right now. How do you co-exist with such extremes of two people? An apartment fire, sadly, took care of the major part of the deal, but the crap is starting to pile up again nearly a year later. I’ve just been ignoring it for the most part…do I just wait until moving day and state what comes with and what goes? I don’t want to be a pain in her arse. Help!
Well, I still don’t consider myself a minimalist, and maybe I’ll never really be one. But I got rid of a bunch of stuff before moving and it felt really good.
I know I will still consume, but I’m trying to be smarter about it – invest in things I’ll use/that will last/that are not bulky/that are healthy/that I can share.
It has been so long since I made the decision to live a minimalistic lifestyle. I have yet to follow through with all of my original plans. I guess you could say that I am a procrastinator. Haha, I don’t guess this, this is a fact. I would actually prefer you call me The Procrastinator! Emphasis on the ‘TOR’, sounds important! But here I am procrastinating myself away from the point!
I had made a list of all of the possesions that I wished to keep… the things that I could not live without. I started the house cleaning and got rid of ALOT of junk. But I still find myself overwhelmed by the amount of stuff that I have! It’s ridiculous.
I am going to try again by making another list. Only this time I am going to follow through 100%.
I have a tiny place on purpose, so that I would get rid of more stuff. But instead I constantly feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff in here, much of which I am not overly sentimental about. I want to minimize NOW so that it will be easier to move to a different city within the next year or so.
