okay, so I’m like the 4th person to think getting stung by a bee is worth it. and i’ll tell you why:
It’s another part of life to experience. Now I have a reference point when someone says they were stung by a bee. It didn’t hurt very long, and I’m not allergic, so I don’t really care. Bee stings suck but if you’re not going to die, then who cares?
...But my husband is allergic, so I guess I do. Hmm.

I.. got stung while sitting at the coffee shop at the library. I reached up to touch my hair (or something) and I FELT a BUG in my hair. So I of course freaked out and swatted at it and it stung my finger.
The first time I’ve ever been stung by anything was actually a wasp and it swelled up enormously. It was ridiculous.

The only good thing about this was that I knew what to expect from an allergic reaction and knew exactly what to do when our son had the same problem.
Sorry, not something I’d every want to willingly do.
Side note: actually it was my fourth bee sting in a year that gave me a reaction. The poison stays in your system for about one year and the more often you are stung, the more likely you’ll have a reaction (even if you are not allergic).

I got stung by a bee on halloween about 3 years ago, and then today while I was walking in the grass barefoot I guess I stepped on a bee! It’s so not worth it, luckily I’m not allergic. But it hurts, just remember to ice it if you get one because it really does feel better afterwards if you do that.

This has happened to me a few times, so I know I’m not allergic. Once at a birthday party, once running for the bus home from school (I didn’t stop because I was damned if I was gonna miss that bus for a mere bee!), once walking with sandals across grass outside the national library as a teenager.
I have heard though, that the allergy can build up, and each time you get stung you increase your chances of anaphalaxis happening.

Because I want to know if I’m allergic or not. I’m afraid of being in the backcountry, backpacking, and getting stung, having an allergic reaction, and dying because there’s no ranger around to radio for help. I supposed I could ask the doctor to test me for it… but getting stung seems more dramatic.
