drive coast to coast

Wow! Do it!
The trip I took was one of the most interesting things I’ve ever done…drove MIL’s car from florida to washington for her.
Had some spots I knew I wanted to see. drove up 95 to see the old carolina mansions, then took a left towards nashville. on the way, visited some cival war sites. off to memphis/graceland. fairly straight driving through 3 states, but saw some amazing “real people” just out doing their thing.
on to santa fe, which i’ll forever hold in my heart. then through some of the weirdest terrain imaginable…Grand canyon and zion. then vegas…almost got married…hit the gas. over to california, then up the coast…(well travelled in other times).
I saw so much, and learned so much…i’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Ah crazy college days, driving coast to coast in a honda with my girlfriend (now wife). Not only coast to coast, but also to Alaska! I think Portland to anchorage was farther than DC to portland. The honda did great. We had to change the oil every week, that is how many miles we were doing. We probably should have stopped and seen a few places, but come on … The whole center of the country is empty! (not really)
