after i finish school, i want to go to ITMI (International Tour Management Institute) and get trained to be a tour guide. the training consist of two weeks at their facility in san fransisco, and they are hooked up with all the well-known and respected tour agencies. i’d love to get paid to travel to exotic places and meet new people every week! what could be a better job than that??

Boston By Foot 1 year ago

I found out I could take a course to become a volunteer guide with Boston By Foot (www.bostonbyfoot.com) back in 2005, but I had missed the spring course dates. I joined as a member and went on a tour and was hooked. My work travel prevented me from training in 2006, but I went on as many tours as I could. I achieved my goal this spring and now I am giving tours of Boston, mainly in the old area around Faneuil Hall (part of the Freedom Trail) on the weekends. I absolutely love it and I keep learning more about my hometown.

Tour leading for 3 years now! 1 year ago

I’ve worked as a tour leader for 3 years in Egypt, Jordan, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and Borneo.

I’m waiting to hear back from my company on weather or not I got the job in South America for a year!

Its an incredible way to see the world, and you get paid for it too! Its not all easy of course, lots of difficult parts to it, but so worth it in the long run!
If you have any questions, let me know, maybe I can help!

I Might Have to Kill Someone Though 2 years ago

I thought our Europe tour guide had the worst job on the planet, but the more I thought about it, the more it grew on me. He gets to see the most amazing places on earth, meet new people all the time, but if they get on his nerves he only has to put up with them for a week, he is immersed in a sea of cultural variety. It must be awesome.
