...when you have to drive somewhere, but you can’t remember where you parked your car!
Carpool/train to work this whole week, because they are repaving the streets around the office, and they’re blocked off anyways – parking is a NIGHTMARE. Next order of business is to invest in a nice bicycle so I can get around a little faster.

Setting a goal for myself this month for commute to work – take public transit at least 4 times. It doesn’t seem like much, and it isn’t really, but this month it’s going to be difficult for me to not use my car because I’m doing a lot of housesitting up in the hills, rather un-walkable distances from work.
I’ve been really good about doing errands on foot EVERY TIME, and I carpool to work on the (few) days where this is possible. I’m even getting my library books send to the closer branch so I’m not tempted to drive across town for bookish deeds.

The plan for tomorrow is to get up bright and early, leave the house by 6am, power-walk over to where the transit picks up and take the bus to work.
WHO WANTS TO TAKE BETS ON WHETHER OR NOT THIS WILL ACTUALLY HAPPEN?
I have a 7am meeting, so it is imperative that I get to the office on time. Setting alarm for 5am, we shall see what happens.
Sometimes, I wish there was no such thing as a snooze button. It gets me into trouble!

Well, I took the train home from work today (got a ride in the morning) and it wasn’t all that bad. It’s not a short walk, that’s for sure, but it wasn’t awful – about 20 or 25 minutes. It’s a nice walk down Grand Avenue, which is actually rather pleasant assuming the weather is behaving itself. I was listening to a Podcast and barely noticed the time.
There’s also a bus I can take to and from work that drops me off about a block away from the office as opposed to the 5 blocks I have to walk from the train to work. I’d catch it in the same area where I catch the train. I’m going to experiment with that next.

I’ve been walking to do most of my errands these days. When I do drive somewhere I make sure it’s a stop on my way to or from somewhere, like a visit to the grocery store on the way home from work. No special trips for things anymore. I’m also reserving library books on the internet and having them sent to the closer branch for me to pick up.
My next step in moving the goal along is to take the train to work at least once a week, and also sometimes when I go to K’s or my parents. The train appears to be quite a walk from my apartment, but I’ll try it and see if it’s doable for me to use for things like that.

This was “take public transportation more often” but since I’ve moved, it doesn’t make much sense to leave it like that. A lot of when I need is right here in this neighborhood, no need for the train or a bus. I want to break the habit of hopping into my car to go to the coffee shop when I’m feeling tired or lazy. I want to be more inclined to make the (long but lovely) trek around the lake for my weekly trips to the library. I want to do more errands on foot.
