talk a cop out of a ticket

I never pictured myself being able to talk a cop out of a ticket, but I actually did this a few days ago. I got pulled over for a couple violations: tailgating, passing without a turn signal, passing somebody in a non-turn lane, and there were a few others I’m forgetting. Nothing too serious, and I managed to get a warning rather than a ticket.

I would recommend NOT getting upset or pissed off, which has not helped me avoid a fine in the past. Instead, be respectful without sucking up. Ask the cop for permission to look in your glove box if that’s where you keep your insurance card, because he’s probably nervous about somebody going for a gun, you know?

I just explained the situation and was honest… and was lucky enough to find the one understanding police officer in the state.

Also, when you get pulled over, keep your seatbelt on. The last speeding ticket I got, this cop tried to get me for that just cause I took it off to get my wallet out.

I got pulled over for doing 35mph in a 25mph zone…I couldn’t believe it! I’ve gone 50+ on that same street and never got stopped. I think he must have been bored. Anyway, glad that I didn’t get a ticket.

Well, actually, it was about 2 AM on Saturday a few weeks ago, and I got pulled over in Virginia on 460, on the Trail of the Lonesome Pine right between Tazewell, VA, and Bluefield, WV. The officer pulled me over for doing 75 in a 55 mph zone (which is reckless driving).

I told him that I was heading to Breaks, and I thought that I was still in WV (where the speed limit was 70). He was nice enough to let me off with a warning, and so I asked him roughly how far away I was, etc. Thanks nice police officer man!
