I spent this whole summer, from May 6 to August 1, traveling around the USA en route to LA. 20 states, 12 National Parks…what an amazing adventure. Highly recommend.
We’ve said we were going to do this for years now and the time has come to start planning. We want to first drive from the Atlantic Coast straight through to the Pacific Ocean. After that we’ll travel back and take our time about it, checking out all of the cool stuff along the way! Also would like to visit all 50 states to complete the trip. Can’t Wait!!
when i was a kid i traveled with my family from Alabama to California. I was 7 years old when we left and 8 when we returned. i got sick as a dog coming back thru Arizona. now as an adult 20 years later, i’d like to do this again. i’d like to take the same route from Alabama to California, maybe take a cruise to Hawaii then travel from California to new york then back to Alabama. i wonder how long this will take. how much money am i looking at? i think this is something my husband and i will really enjoy doing.
I had to move from California to New York, and so I took the chance to drive across the country. I wish I had a bit more time so that I could have gone slower and seen more. I did it in about a week.
The summer after I finished college I traveled on a Green Tortoise bus from NYC to San Francisco and then rode Amtrak from San Fransisco back to my hometown in upstate NY. It was probably the best thing I’ve ever done with myself. I went with Green Tortoise because someone on 43 Things had suggested it, and I will definitely second that suggestion.
gypsiewriter thinks life is beautiful and appreciates the cheer-bombs as of late! :)
Right after I clicked ‘I want to do this again!’, my Mom called and said she wanted me to research Amtrak prices, as she wants to do the same route I did.
She asked me to go with her, and while it would have it’s advantages, I’m thinking the next time it happens I’ll go somewhere different, before re-doing the first journey.
That, and the visual I have of my next cross-country adventure does not include my mother!
seems like the only places I’ve really seen are Las Vegas and last August when I went to Maui for a week (best friggin week ever!) so, its just something I have always dreamed of doing with two or three good friends, jus seeing America for all its worth! life on the highway…sounds good to me, but where would we gom first?
I traveled from L.A to N.Y by Greyhound.
In each ride and each town, I met many people.
Although it’s many years ago, there’re beatiful memories left in my mind.
When National Lampoon’s Vacation came out I thought it was a documentary about our family. My parents had a family truckster and popup camper and we saw it all. Now that I’m an adult, I’d like to do it again with my daughter.
