Aaron Post cleaning up my Life List, then getting ready to add some new things
After this year I think it might be better to just sponsor a party than be on a panel.
Thoughts anyone?
Just logged in after a year of non-use, so I thought I’d check this off. My panel at SXSW 2005 was enjoyed by most attendees. Yay!
I had great panel mates, people asked insightful questions and I can’t wait to do it again. Now all I need is a great idea … scratches chin
I’ve heard so much about SXSW, it’s where it’s at when it comes to music conferences. And now there’s an interactive part for computer geeks! My goodness, what will they think of next? I’m just starting on trying to get back into the music industry and I’d love for whatever work I can find to be more new media and internet related. I doubt I could be on a panel for quite a few years, but I’d first love to go and experience SXSW firsthand. Maybe next year?
So it’s 2 days away and my prototype is almost ready for public consumption. By “almost” I of course mean “not really very ready at all.” It looks pretty but doesn’t exactly do anything yet. Oh well. The attached image is a teaser for what I’m working on. Wink wink nudge nudge.
I think it was the SXSW Interactive festival in 1997 (98?) when I appeared on a panel about streaming audio on the ‘net. At the time I ran a internet-only radio station with a friend, and I guess they asked me to come and talk about how I did it.
Besides me, there were 3 other folks on the panel who were there to just shill the audio products their companies made. I had no product, just somewhere to listen to some good music.
Sadly, attendance was pretty slim at our panel, because next door there was a panel on this hot new thing called mp3. They had a line out the door and standing room only. We had maybe 15 people tops.
But there’s still the feeling like the top of my head’s going to come off.
And I’d love to do it again – SxSW is one of my favorite conferences.
It looks as if I’m going to be on a panel during the internet conference part of SXSW. I’ll be on a flash team that has to “compete” against an HTML team. We’ll be given complex, modern problems and each team will present our unique solution that takes advantage of our chosen technology. Should be fun, I hope I don’t fuck up.
