I’m going to use this space as a place to establish some “general” rules to keep my home in good condition.

  1. Attend to dishes at least once daily.
  2. Put laundry away soon after it’s done.
  3. If you don’t need something and it’s not able to be used by someone else or recycled some way, throw it away.
  4. Take garbage out regularly (it’s amazing how much this one thing has helped me with other aspects of housekeeping).


Yesterday... 1 year ago

I spent time doing some dishes and cleaning the counter in my kitchen. I also cleared out my refrigerator of food that no longer was edible because of the length of time it’d been there.

I spent time unpacking one of the boxes and two partial ones in my bedroom and finding some space for the contents. I also changed my bed linens.

In my living room I spent time putting away some of the clutter that was around.

In my bathroom, I cleaned my bathtub, sink and toilet.

I’m very proud of myself. It doesn’t look like I did much if you’d come in and look at the place, but I can tell what I’ve done, and it feels better to me. I normally don’t bother with cleaning if I’ve had as busy of a week as I did last week, but I’m glad I did.

I also spent some time on my personal computer (the one that’s in my apartment) creating a spreadsheet master-list of things that I want done/need to do. That way, maybe I can create a normal routine or schedule of getting everything done. (I tried doing that chorebuster.com, and just didn’t like it.)



So this was a 2006 NYR... 1 year ago

and now it’s becoming a 2007 one, too! I have been frantically trying to do Christmas tasks and doing housework and organizing just isn’t a priority right now. Once January hits I’m going to be intensely working on this goal. I’ve made some progress on this goal, but due to all the stuff that I’ve been working on and being busy with a whole lot of stuff no one could tell right now. And, why am I so freaked out about this goal’s lack of progress? Well, I had unexpected company tonight. Some friends stopped by unannounced.



Week of October 22 project: 2 years ago

I’ve got too much to do this week and I won’t be available this weekend to work on my apartment as I’ll be out of town mostly. So, this week will be “light.”

  1. Wash linens.
  2. Make up bed with fresh sheets.
  3. Clear out additional boxes in bedroom.
  4. Organize books and find a place for them.
  5. Clear out clutter in living room.
  6. Dust furniture.

Weekend project: conclusion- 2 years ago

Okay, so I didn’t get everything done! :( I did organize some, and swept a little…but, I didn’t finish either task completely. I had too many last second social things come up today…at least that’s my excuse. I’m disappointed that I didn’t get more done, but I think under the circumstances I did more than I would have had I not had this on-line. :)

Okay this is my “Week of October 15 Project”:
  1. Organize kitchen so that everything has a place.
  2. Clear living room of additional boxes.
  3. Sweep apartment floors.
  4. Mop apartment floors.
  5. Wash clothes.

Again, I hope everyone will continue to encourage me (nagging can be a form of encouragement, too) to accomplish this…I’m too stubborn in a negative way sometimes when it comes to these type of things.



Weekend Project: update 3- 2 years ago

I don’t know if I’m going to be able to get this done by the end of the day! I had an extra thing come up today that I wasn’t planning on doing. I’ll go and work for about an hour and see what I can do and then do what I can when I get back from this evening’s events.
