Has pride in self :)
I got a fretless warwick a few months ago and am playing it weekly at church now, through a small Markbass amp it sounds fabulous.
Hi,
after getting the Yamaha BB614 fretless I had to work stronger to hit the right notes so I practiced more and more on this wonderfull bass guitar. Fortunately that experience was a great influence on my playing on fretted basses, too. So one year after the BB the next level was achieved and I allowed myself to buy the next bass: A Fender Aerodyne Jazz AJB-66 from Japan. And now I’m practicing on my three basses for three different styles. Mellow and humming sounds on the fretless that I now call “Black Bumblebee”, pumping Motown-Lines on my old “Bastelbass” and Slapping and percussive Pick-Work on my new Fender, called “Grey JPJ” because I got him on the evening when Led Zeppelin had their reunion gig. At least 15 minutes a day and it’s getting better and better :-)
I’ve been playing weekly with some guys in San Diego, in order to get the max out of that, I am practicing for a little while, a couple hours/week in addition to the 3-4/week I do with them.
I can’t seem to find any time to practice on my bass, but I’m trying. It feels like I’m the only bass player in my town. It would be so much more fun to practice with a friend rather than by myself.
Bass players are in demand, I’ve now found myslef dabbling in a few projects. I’m a rocknroll guy stretching my taste boundaries with a fretless bass.
Well, I stopped practising regularly a few weeks ago, and I’ve started again, but I still miss golden moments to knuckle down and play for more than 10 minutes. I’m getting a teacher soon to help with the theory and more technical side of things, but until that’s arranged, I’m learning my favourite Symphony X songs.
My wife bought me a new bass – so soon I will own a Yamaha BB614 and then I’l do my very best to become the next Andysimonadamtony Rourkegallupclaytonlevin!
