I now have a usable studio, complete with awesome “new” stereo I apparently lent to my brother many years ago when I moved. I still need to finish putting away a couple piles of stuff left over from the renovations…in pretty much every room.
I have this useless wall with lots of doors on it, I want to build a relief mural in the blank parts…I’m thinking thick pink foam boards and subtractive method. I’ve started ‘drawing’ up plans in my head with an embedded mirror and coat hooks. Since I won’t be going back to school this semester I’ll have the time. Only problem is I have to find a part-time job to pay the car payment, gas, and fund my projects for the term. New Goal.

The on-going renovations at the homestead include turning the main living space into an office (for my computer-y guy) and studio (for my arty-self).
So far all the furniture that’s leaving this room is out. I need to buy a little new furniture and figure out what I’m supposed to do with all this garbage! I have more books than my local library and more chachkis than a Jewish grandmother!
Once the room is officially my studio – start new goal…Make the blank wall into a relief sculpture.

Putting a time frame on this goal has helped.

Studio project

I am going to document this properly with photos and updates. The room that I am going to make into my studio is a room upstairs that I have used for storage. It is loaded up with boxes, and to be honest, I have no idea what is in most of them. I’ll get a photo soon of the “before” and post it here.

Ok, so, let’s write down the sub-tasks: the first thing is that I have to drill the holes in the MainPart, so that someone can come and reconnect the electricity. Then I have to get the guy to come. Then I need to finish insulating (easy, fun), and then put up all the homosote and/or drywall (not as easy or fun), remove the existing 1/2 floor (intimidating, but fun), and put some shelving back up. Good. And get a propane heater and figure out how to fill and use that, so I can work in the studio.
I haven’t yet figgered out what I need to do in the NotMainPart, but I think I will make that a new Thing, when I’m done with this Thing.
