 How I did it: i moved to guatemala to live with my grampa. I went to a spanish immersion school for a month, that helped me get a realy good base. i then had a teacher that would come to the house, but it was more review of what i had already learned. then i went to mexico for 2 months where i was forced to speak 100% spanish because no one spoke english at all!! How I did it: I started by learning the basics. I took 2 years of Spanish in high school, but that isn't enough to actually learn to speak Spanish, at least in most high school Spanish classes. How I did it: My community gives inexpensive classes in Spanish through our Literacy Council. They make learning spanish fun and easy. I’ve never particularly wanted to learn Spanish, but am discovering that it is necessary knowledge for our country (USA) now. I’m a teacher and I think it will help in my daily work to know the language. I’m currently learning it through Rosetta Stone (which is totally awesome).

I have been much better at studying my Spanish materials. My husband (who is from Bolivia) is also being better at helping me out. He is so used to speaking in English to me that he doesn’t think to switch gears.
We found out three months ago that we are expecting and we decided long ago that we would raise our children bilingual. So I have new motivation to pick up on my skills.
I took classes for three years.
I studied abroad in Ecuador for one semester.
Well, I am not sure anymore if I want to still with Spanish. I’ll keep the messages I receive every morning and get some more vocabulary. But probably I won’t be back to the classes anymore. I’m thinking about German lately. And, even to this, I don’t have time to more activities right now. Maybe next year, with the end of the graduation getting near, I can think again about a new language (Spanish, German, who knows?). The more urgent at this moment is improve my English skills.
If I am going to be living in Spain I’d better be learning to speak Spanish hey.

I have been reading my spanish workbook at night and think I am starting to retain alot more. I have also been getting spanish word a day. Now I think I will up it a notch and try writing as an exercise.
