I got 6 wooden pallets off Freecycle, so this weekend I will be putting them together to start my compost. I’m so excited! If you want to learn how to use the pallets to do this, just google “compost pile wooden pallets” and you’ll get lost of results. Pictures to come when I’m done!
I started my compost! I had wanted to buy a composter but they are $$ I don’t have…so I repurposed an old kitty litter tub! It has a lid. I just roll the tub a couple of times to turn it. Eventually I’ll get the real composter but for now, it’s good to find other purposes for stuff, rather than to just throw it away!
Between the dog, the rats, the chickens, and the 2 goats, nothing makes it to the compost pile!
Usually we need some for the garden, but we’re traveling all summer so we’re not planting anything this year.
Moved in with fam, and they want no compost pile. Maybe when I live alone again.
i decided to focus more on the more urgent issues at hand. like not putting my hazardous waste into the trash. it’s sad that the vegetables don’t ever have a chance to rot, but hopefully i will be buying them from better (and closer in proximity) growers this year, so that the produce that i buy won’t pollute as much with gasoline and pesticide. and i won’t be gardening next year anyway.
I cleaned out the fridge today and have a huge pile of gross old food in the corner of the yard. It’s a start.
