Hadrian’s wall is an 80 mile 10’x15’ wall that was built by the roman empire in britain to seperate themselves from the barbarians. The wall stretches from Bowness-on-Solway through Vindolanda then over to Newcastle/Wallsend.
Not much is left of it but enough though that you can follow it from coast to coast.

My brother and I are flying over to England tomorrow to do this. We are starting in Newcastle and ending up in Bowness-on-Solway. 6 days, 84 miles and lots of socks! We are carrying packs, but staying in B&Bs along the way.
Can’t wait!

Okay, admittedly, I stole this idea from my roommate. But you know the idea of backpacking through Europe? How cool would it be to do some plain old hiking along an old historical site in Britain?
