Come join our team over at sparkpeople! 2 years ago

There is a new team for 43things members, called Team 43T. Come and join the chat there and get more support with this goal.

I’m a sparkpeople restarter – several times now. I know the system works because I’ve lost weight with it before, but I don’t remain consistent. I think a lot depends on finding the right group of people to support you.

I also need to make more time to use all the resources there.

Lost 2 pounds this week! This site is great. I have to be very focused on tracking calories/exercise in order to make it work. I’m hoping in a month’s time I will have gotten a good feeling of what I can eat.

So, I’ve logged on and started my “Fast Break” which is basically easing into the whole healthy living and losing a little weight thing. You choose three small goals for the first two weeks—one of mine is drink 8 glasses of water a day (which also happens to be on my 43 things list). Have I done this yet? Nope. Hmmm…today I think I accounted for 2 glasses. Not sure why this is such a difficult goal. It’s a cool website though, so I’m looking forward to seeing how things go.

Down 30 pounds 2 years ago

I got kind of burned out between Thanksgiving and Christmas and was wondering what could get me going again, but I have made a new commitment to my health and to improving myself and am becoming motivated again, I am happy to say! Now onto the next 30!

I guess I just got lucky 2 years ago

that I lost weight at first. But I see that simply tracking my food (and candy) intake isn’t going to cut it. I have to actually change the way I eat. Gulp.

I have to plan ahead instead of entering everything I ate at the end of the day, only to discover that I ate too much, or the wrong kinds of things.

A strange thing happened on sparkpeople.com 2 years ago

I lost weight. I have been tracking my diet for a week, and I lost three pounds! Normally my weight hardly fluctuates at all, so that’s saying something.

Actually, I’m a little weirded out by it. Spooky how it happened without my thinking about it much. My goal was only to lose half a pound a week, just to take a little off very gradually. I guess I’m loyal to the body I have now, and how it’s just fine and healthy and strong and beautiful the way it is. I wasn’t quite ready to leave it behind so soon.

But I can adjust to the idea of a leaner me. I’ll work on that.

I would love to track every single thing that passes my lips 2 years ago

But the leftover surprise that we have for dinner almost every night is so hard to define. Somehow keeping track of what we throw in there seems less spontaneous… less poetic… less magical. Not to mention a butt-load of work.

Ahh, the days of recipes and measuring cups.

Strangely 2 years ago

I think this might help me with my “practice conscious eating” goal. For the last week or so I have been trying, to varying degrees of success, to enter everything I eat. Fascinating how my nutritional intake is all over the map! And just look at how much sodium is in most things! I really don’t get as much protein as a should. But the geek in me loves tracking with so much detail.

I think following through with this will really help me inderstand what I’m taking in and how it impacts how I feel.
