I was wondering 7 months ago

does going to the house of the girl who keeps jacking with my relationship and beating the crap out of her constitute believing in something enough to arrested for? Kinda, but not so much. Im a non violent person. Last time I hit anyone was like the 6th grade and from what I remember, I did most of the crying. Lately I actually want this one though. I wish there were activities in my poor podunk city that provoked me enough for change…instead of just plain letter writing.

    keep thinkin... 9 months ago

This is always something that made me think. Who are we if not what we believe in? Do you have the conviction to stand up for what you believe in or would you back down? Every weekend there are people on a street corner in the Elmwood Village who hold signs and put tape over their mouths. Every weekend I beep at them and they wave.
It seems like the things that I believe in enough to be arrested for are not on Buffalo’s radar. I may need to head out somewhere. Audubon Society is attending some things in DC.
Its not my intention to be arrested, but I have no problem doing it if it comes down to it. I think birds, whales, trees and our oceans are worth it.

it happens in every city that hosts a big event, but more and more, I dont understand why. Big event = arresting homeless to get them off the street so their city looks so perfect for their perfect event. Or, of course my favorite, they move them. Put them in buses and actually move them. They have nothing so why not just take them like bugs in a cup and move them outside so they won’t bother us anymore. If everyone knows cities do this, WHY DO THEY STILL DO THIS?! Homelessness is a part of this country that no one wants to face or talk about. Yes, there are homeless. No, our government and most citizens dont want to help. I was walking to dinner with my brother one night and some guy asked for 50 cents. My brother looks at him and says “get a job”. I lost it. LOST it. First, I gave the man a dollar and then went off on my brother. “And what outfit would you like him to interview in? The one he keeps in the bag in the shopping cart or the one he leaves in his box?” He was obviously mentally ill. It hurt my soul. I spent 3 years working with the homeless, but the addiction part wore me down. I had clients threaten me, spit on me, get violent on me. I would take 45 homeless over 1 addict anyday, but unfortuntely, a lot of it goes hand in hand. I made my brother listen the whole way to dinner about mental illness and not being able to provide for the most basic needs because the voices in his head are telling him to do the complete opposite. Then he has people like my brother saying mean things to him when all he wants to do is eat. My brother threw out the old stand by of “he’s just going to drink it.” I looked at my brother and said “he doesnt drink. I can tell. I can tell he doesnt drink, I can tell you do. I can tell who takes pills and who does crack. This is what I do.”
On the way home, my brother gave him his left overs and $5.
Homelessness is such an easy problem to solve, its just overwhelming. But it is one that I would be arrested for in a minute. No one is above homeless people. No one.

So, as expected, Captain Retardo signed the new rules of what classifies an “endangered” and “threatened” species. Not for the better mind you. Polar bears are still “just fine”. And if that isn’t enough, he changed the rules for agencies that want to build and expand. They no longer have to have environmental agencies or scientists study the impact on the land, environment, etc, though it is “suggested”.
So much for just letting the last 6 weeks pass. Obama has said he will change it, but changing it is a lot harder than oh, say, NEVER PASSING IT AT ALL.
I didn’t think it was possible to hate someone as much as I hate him. What the crap.
His last ride out of the white house, I’m so there to throw eggs at his car. Who’s with me?

If Palin enters the white house, I am going to Alaska and tying myself to a tree or laying in a marsh to protest drilling. That woman, being from Alaska, is a DISASTER. I would rather look at birds, wildlife, plants and marshes over her anyday. They had better far outlive her too.

for you George Bush. Not just to get out of office, but for your One Good Punch. I’ll be patient. Wait a few months, maybe a year and a half to go see you when you speak somewhere. Wait until they give you the not so elite secret service men like the new ones or the ones getting ready to retire. Dress like a republican (can’t keep a straight face saying it. Mental note to work on that). Act all excited as I work my way up to you in the line to shake your hand. Then, as you grab my hand, before the secret service can grab me…One Good Punch. I could totally get arrested for that.

    Berkley 15 months ago

I saw at UC Berkley over the weekend people were being arrested to try to stop them for cutting down trees that they have been fighting over for years. Well, they lost and the trees came down. If I was in California, I would have been right there with them. I mean seriously, hasn’t anyone read the Giving Tree?!!

    Jail time 3 years ago

I was just saying to a political activist friend of my mine that I have settled way down since hitting my 30s. But I think I believe even more in the things that used to rile me up such as the environment, medicaid, medicare, national health insurance…ALL OF IT. I said I was surprised that I was never arrested and my family was convinced I always would be. Then I thought, why haven’t I? If I believe in something so much, why not make some noise, sit in, protest, whatever….and let them carry me out.
