I did just fine until I got myself badly tangled, because my guide on the ground told me to unhook and rehook my harnass in the wrong place. A big wind nearly knocked me off while I struggled to get myself out (a very, very long twenty minutes), and that shook me a bit. But there was nothing to compare to the feeling of taking the zip line down at the end!

When I was in elementary school, we went to one that wasn’t too high. I made the first three steps up the ladder, and I decided I didn’t want to do it. I was told that “Sometimes, it takes more courage to say you can’t do it then to just keep going.”

At a leadership camp this summer (best experience of my life!), we went to another course. I think I started every station with hesitation, but my friends all cheered and pushed me to keep going. I honestly think the best part was when I almost fell, because I could feel the support on the ground.

    Definitely, definitely worth it.

    Amazing! 2 years ago

Last year, it was my very first time on high ropes at my beloved Camp Weona. I really do not like heights and was incredibly freaked out and cried at the beginning. However, I sang to myself, and kept creeping along. When I finally grabbed that trapeze I felt like I had climbed a mountain. I did it!

The next year, as a counselor-in-training, I did not have the opportunity to do it again, but instead I watched from the ground as six girls took FOUR hours as oppoed to the two that were scheduled for all to complete the course. However, they all did it, and it rocked!

I took a gym class called “project adventurous lifestyle” where we learned high ropes, rock climbing, trapeze, ect. It was so exciting. A lot of people took the class not expecting all this and were afraid of heights or something. I never knew that was such a common fear!!! I love heights!!!! I’m like “Bring on the heights biotch!”
