Yeah, I’ve done this a few times in the past. Last year I smashed a pumpkin because I was angry. It wasn’t good to be angry (or clean it up after!), but I did. I’ve smashed some bottles on the ground a few years ago – ‘just for fun’ (not really sure why, but it was kinda fun).

How I did it: When I was growing up, and actually up until very recently, the best way I could calm myself down was to throw a big fit first. So, I would gather up some dishes or figurines or anything breakable, and then find a nice solid wall towards which I would hurl the aforementioned items as strongly and quickly as possible. because it scares people and is generally classified as “crappy behavior.” I think I learned it from my dad, who throws things when he’s angry. He once smashed my favorite mug on purpose and I was upset. I mean, it was a mug, but I was still upset.
But I understand the release and the satisfaction of watching something shatter to pieces. It reflects how you want to feel, how you wish the thing you hate could just be thrown against the ground and reduced to bits – but those things have no physical manifestation that you can do away with so easily.
