finish family tree

The more I look into this the more fascinating it becomes. I am realising that no matter how much I find out there will be more to know. I am changing this goal from ‘finish my family tree’ to continuing to research and collate information for a family history.

Okay I finished my first draft for the family memories book a few weeks ago. Now it is off to my mom who will go though and add or subtract a bunch of information she wants. Then of it goes to her sisters.

The only thing is they keep giving me things that they want in the book that requires lots of research. I wasn’t really interested in visiting court houses and looking up information. I was just going to compile the interesting stories and information from what we already know. I keep getting piles and piles of stuff on how to do family history research. I’m beginning to regret offering to type this all up.

Plus I was just going to do the one side of the family tree. But I keep hearing that cousin so and so just has to be in the book….. I then sit there wondering who is this cousin and why haven’t I heard of them before. I finally checked and so far I have in the book what is equal to eleven family trees, since they kept insisting that I branch off here and there. The only big problem with that is how I am going to arrange the chapters.

Okay, sure I’ll find a translator and then off to Norway for research. NOT, how do I get the rest of the family to understand.

This is getting very frustrating. I also checked and it will cost 1.00 a page for printing. So that will be a little over 100.00 a book. So now I’m thinking if anyone wants a book I’ll print it if they buy me one color and one black ink cartridge. That is about 50.00, but that at leasts cuts the cost in half. Not including paper and my time, but then I have all the time in the world to print this.

Just finished the first draft and it is 80 pages long. I’m printing it out now to send off and have everyone check the spellings of names and date for each family. I never knew we had such strange family names.
