I’ve been wanting to try Supermemo ever since seeing an interview in wired with the inventor of the method. But I am not confident in the publicly available software. So I made a template in Google docs that mimics the paper method. I want to try it out but I think there are a few more tools I could add (like calendar notifications of repetitions).

How I did it: I read a book back in the 70's by a Dr Bruno Furst. And it has stayed with me ever since, used daily.Took me a couple of hours to get my head around it, but within a couple of weeks i was memorising a pack of cards. This progressed to anything i could get my hands on, now i compile lists and memorise them quite easily. I started with cards, then i created a room and filled it with sports equipment, then a room full of wea… Read how I did it…

How I did it: First of all, one of the best things to improve your memory is doing mathematics! I know that math seems boring, however its like a work-out for your brain ^_^Also, keep a daily "to-do" list to help jog your memory Read how I did it…
How I did it: I would surf the internet and find little video clips or articles on improving memory. This one man said if he's given a string of random words he does several things; he puts them into pairs, then imagines them in a certain room of the house. Now, I'm all about pairing now. But I don't imagine something in certain rooms, to me that's just more to memorize. Read how I did it…

How I did it: Since remembering names are vital to my line of business (sales), I took this goal seriously. It took me a while to think about the name as it was being said, but after much practice, it become easy and fun. Mnemonics such as "Mike has a bike" didn't really work for me. It was far easier to repeat the name back to them or just echo it in my head after. After a while, repeating the name back becomes second nature. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Improving memory is not something one can do by just sitting or reading a book on memory. You'll have to actually train your memory for it. Plus, every individual is unique. People use different techniques to to improve there memories. My memory was going a bit down but it was normal. I started reading this book "How to use your perfect memory" by Tony Buzan. It had few methods that I incorporated in my life. But this is not all, these me… Read how I did it…

This was one of my favorite poems from childhood and I’m in the process of memorizing it in its entirety. It’s very lyrical and has a good rhythm to it with fairly short phrases, all of which makes it easier to recall; however, it’s also rather long. It covers several pages of the little book that I have. I’ve memorized parts of it in the past but this time I’m challenging myself to memorize the whole thing from beginning to end. I’d also like to speed up the process by which I can remember things like poetry and music. So hopefully this will help stretch both my short- and long-term abilities.
It starts out like this: All I could see from where I stood- Was three long mountains and a wood; I turned and looked another way, and saw three islands in a bay. So with my eyes I traced the line- Of the horizon, thin and fine- Straight around till I was come- Back to where I’d started from; And all I saw from where I stood- Was three long mountains and a wood.
And it goes on from there. It gets quite dramatic as it continues, and gives me lots to work with visually as well.

Yellow Stars and Ice by Susan Stewart
I am as far as the deepest sky between clouds
and you are as far as the deepest root and wound,
and I am as far as a train in evening,
as far as a whistle you can’t hear or remember.
You are as far as an unimagined animal
who, frightened by everything, never appears.
I am as far as cicadas and locusts
and you are as far as the cleanest arrow
that has sewn the wind to the light on
the birch trees. I am as far as the sleep of rivers
that stains the deepest sky between the clouds,
You are as far as invention, and I am as far as memory.

One of the ways of doing this for me is by memorizing passages of poetry. For some reason, I find it really soothing to recall those lines, for instance when things get stressful or boring. Since it’s in my head, it’s always available.

I’m near to taking this one off. My memory has improved by leaps and bounds since the divorce was final, guess a lot of the problem was STRESS. Stress from the ex, then from the legal stuff. Whew! Glad again to be out of that.

I bought a book about memory – and I am reading it after work. I try to use the advices from the book.
i need to do this. i will set about this by firstly number crunching every single day. although to be quite frank dear, the entire point of this goal is so that i will remember my number crunching later?
bahhh, humbug.
point is, will first start number crunching everyday. supposedly it helps, should help me? inshallah :)
I feel like an 80 year old in my 20 year old body. Some times i instantly forget what i needed to do.
