place letterboxes

one hitchhiker, and I have been running in postal circles.

I am also planning a letterboxing party in a local park for my younger son. I have already carved 5 stamps, I’m thinking maybe two more, we’ll see. This week we’ll plot the clues.

Paulie likes Pokemon a whole lot, so I carved a Piplup as his Personal Stamp.

have been hidden in Yuma… at the same time we looked for 3 geocaches and one letterbox (all hidden by other people)... we were totally unsuccessful at finding the other ones, but just as successful at hiding ours. Had a lot of fun!

are all ready for tomorrow, complete with hand-carved stamps and logbooks… we’re meeting another family at noon to go place these 3 letterboxes.

placed 2 letterboxes. Now we’re going to place 3 more letterboxes. We’ve decided on the where and the when. We’ll make it an outing (homeschool field trip) to place all three letterboxes, as well as go hunting for one that has recently been replaced in our city. We’re going to do this together with one other family, one that we introduced to letterboxing last spring.

So, I’ve got just over a week to get the 3 letterboxes put together.

Yes, the forest behind our house is named Afrika, as are the collection of 5-6 houses there. My 2 youngest sons and I hiked into the forest in Afrika yesterday and hid our second letterbox. This one will be alot harder to find, because there’s really no marked trail from the parking space to the plane crash site where we hid the letterbox. But I’ll put up a description on the website and hope someone can find it.

are all done… now to drive and place the first letterbox AND to write the clues so someone else can find it…

got the first one ready to place… just waiting for my oldest son to finish the eraser carving. I want to get this one hidden before this Sunday, as there will be alot of people there on Sunday for “gröna stöveln day”.

the 3 plastic containers. Now I need to print out info for the lid and for the logbook, and make the logbook. I’ll ask my oldest son to carve 3 eraser carving for these.
