Getting into the habit of reading The Bible is difficult at first, but when I almost decide to skip it now and just go to bed, I feel the Bible pulling me like a magnet. So weird!

I read three chapters a night in The Access Bible, which is great because it has footnotes explaining the weirder cultural stuff.

Tonight I just finished the book of Judges, so tomorrow I’ll be starting Ruth on page 382. Will probably just read all of Ruth in one night, since it’s only 4 chapters long. It’s a good story, I actually read it in an English class before.

Read the Old Testament in 16 weeks 9 months ago

My personal goal is to read the entire Old Testament all the way through this semester, which ends up being about ten chapters a day, six days a week. This goal came from a girl in my bible study who took a class in college where they had to do this and then journal each day about what they read. The purpose of this goal is to help me understand what Jesus means to me by understanding what the Savior means to Israel. I have not read the Old Testament much at all, and I think this is an important step in my faith.

An amazing blessing 18 months ago

I don’t want to ignore this amazing blessing anymore, I have tried and tried many times to read the OT, but this time I will do it.
Scriptures are such a blessing and definitive proof that God loves us. the BoM, D&C, and NT are important scriptures, but the OT should be read too, so here I a committing to read it by the time I go to BYU.

Just read Ruth 2 years ago

It’s interesting, skipping back and forth between reading books from the Old Testament and the Apocrypha. Reading about Israel in its prime, then reading about how they were conquered, then back again, really sheds some light on each.

An ongoing effort 2 years ago

I set this as a goal for 2006, and managed to get as far as the Psalms. I’m going to finish the OT in 2007 (and I still have Isaiah to get through!).

On your marks... 2 years ago

Today is Day 1. I’m going to try and read the whole Old Testament before the end of 2007. I’m going to start at a pace where I can finish in 6 months, so if I hit a dry spell here or there I’ll still have plenty of time to finish.

I’ve also printed out a couple of time lines that I can reference as I read, just to keep my bearings. Here goes…

I am proud... 3 years ago

I am proud of myself. I have been reading the Old Testament daily. I find that daily reading restores me from this world that is constantly beating you down.

So… I am proud that I am doing this.

Very Long lol 3 years ago

I havent read EVERY single thing in it but I have read it.I think its neat seeing how the population evovled and how old all of the first people were. Some of them lived to be over 900 years old! lol But it also has all of the good bible school stories in it like Adam and Eve and Noahs Ark.
