So, I studied psychology in college. I got decent grades (3.15). After I graduated I decided how awesome neuroscience is. I took a community college course an Aced it. I took the GREs and got 650 math 650 verbal. I applied to 5 PhD programs, but did not get into any of them. I did get on the waiting list for one (so maybe I am in the same ballpark?)
Not sure what the way forward is right now. I should probably apply to Masters programs because they should be easier to get into (I think). I would like to build my own EEG: http://openeeg.sourceforge.net/doc/ Then I could start studying neuroscience by myself, and my determination would look good on my applications. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to progress with this? Thanks!

I have an undergraduate degree in Applied Math with concentration in Computer Science, but have been working 3.5 years as a business and data consultant in the healthcare industry. REALLY, nothing I have done are related to neuroscience.
My first steps to neuroscience was taking night classes after work in community colleges, one class at a time. I completed 2 semesters of Chemistry, 2 semesters of Physics, and have yet to take Biology as my nearby JC don’t offer it at night this semester.
Due to livelihood and financial risk, I would not quit my full-time job to finish the pre-requisites for neuroscience. Hence it is a very slow and uncertain process right now, as I doubt any university would accept me for a PhD Neuroscience program given that I have only taken classes at JC and have no research experience. I tried volunteering as a research assistant for a grad student, but it didn’t work out as they mostly do the research during daytime working hours.
I am still uncertain how to go about this neuroscience pursuit. Any advice, or knowing who else are in similar situation would be nice :)

I am studying neuroscience. I am hooking up brain cell cultures to robots. And it makes me happy; I might be a geek.

My professor approached me to work in his neuroengineering lab! I’ll prolly start this fall!

After I complete my undergraduate degree for Biomedical Engineering, I hope to go to Cornell, JHU, or elsewhere to study neuroscience.
My academic dream… I’m such a geek. =)

I really want to do this!
But I’ve got to get my BSc before I go to medical school—and then I have to study like two years in general medical practice before I can specialize in neurology, right? :( Boo. That’s like 5 years down the road, then. I’d better work hard.
