At this rate, I’ll be working on this goal for years.

Found a new check register. I have to say, not spending any money sure makes balancing my checkbook a lot easier.

Weeks 3-4 were consumed by me being in the hospital. I think that’s a good excuse if there ever was one.
But I have restored the balance yet again. I am now officially out of room in my check register. I hope I can find another one…

I am running out of pages in my check register.

That’s right – every week for the rest of 2008, I aim to balance my checkbook.
After much frustration and not a little swearing, I’ve now brought my checkbook up-to-date and balanced it to the penny. (I don’t even want to tell you how long it had been.) So this week is taken care of. Next week should be a whole lot easier!
I’ll have to restore them from the backup I wisely keep offsite, which means at work. So this won’t happen until I’m back at work next week.
These last two weeks notwithstanding, I am marking this goal complete. I have balanced my checkbook once a week for 12 weeks, except when I was prevented from doing so by travel or technology. That’s good enough for me. Of course I will continue to do this once a week, but I don’t need it to be an active goal any longer.
I think now that I have the fundamentals down, I will focus on budgeting and financial planning.
I should get it back tonight. Missed last weekend, but it’s not too late. I’ll balance my checkbook tonight or tomorrow.
Done. Nice to see things moving in the right direction: savings accumulating, debts being paid off, etc. Ahhh!
