    More Bikram 1 week ago

Went to Bikram yesterday and today, and plan on going tomorrow morning – I’m really really enjoying it. Haven’t gone consistently since I started, since I’ve spent a lot of time in TN and KY. I feel like there are things I could be doing better, and I’m not quite as sore right now as I was at this point in the first few days I did it.. I don’t know if that’s a good sign or not. Yesterday when I went it was packed, so the heat and humidity skyrocketed. I thought I was going to pass out for part of it. Today it wasn’t crowded at all, so it was a really nice temperature (still hot, of course), and I think I got a much better workout. I wasn’t quite as stretchy, though.

It occurred to me that I could potentially mark this one off as done, but I don’t really feel I’ve internalized the whole routine yet. Once I can tell you the 26 poses in order, then I may mark this off as done.

    Yoga 2 weeks ago

I always wanted to be more flexible and to get something more spirituality in my life. Yoga just combinates both and I actually cannot wait to show off crazy positions like the scorpion and so on! It looks absolutley great plus you can find your inner balance.

    Bikram update: 2 months ago

Went to my fourth Bikram class today – went Sunday for the first time (my last entry), Monday (OW), Tuesday morning (more OWWWWWWW, but it was a really small class so we got a lot more individual attention and coaching), I skipped Wednesday for an outdoor club meetup, and then I went again today (and I think the day off did my body good). Thoughts so far:

    - If I keep this up, I will have some amazing muscle tone very soon.
    - 90 minutes a day is a lot! I think I’m going to go down to 2 or 3 times a week when I start paying per class, give myself rest days in between.
    - I saw a friend emerge from a yoga class where she’d worn stretchy jeans the whole time and could do nearly everything. Not in Bikram. Not at all.
    - I’m noticing a difference in the muscle tone in my legs. Ladies, you know that pesky inner thigh everybody wants to tone? This’ll do that, no doubt.
    - It’s really motivating! I haven’t done a lot of classes before; I’m used to running or biking on my own. It’s great having someone to tell me to hold it for 30-10-5-3-2-1 more seconds!
    - I can really stretch a lot further at the end of class, after the heat has seeped into my bones, than at the beginning.
    - Whole body workout! I don’t really get that anywhere else.
    - Oh yeah, I’m getting more flexible, too.

Stay tuned for more updates :)

    Bikram 3 months ago

I found a yoga studio that’s good for me both in terms of location and class times, and it’s a type I’d never heard of called Bikram. That means, I have learned, that it’s a series of 26 poses over ~90 minutes in a hot, hot room. The poses are good beginner through advanced, many of them change just a smidgen for the advanced people, others you just stretch farther. I went today and took them up on their introductory offer, one week for $20, so I’m going to try to go every day this week. Today was hard – I’d flown a red eye last night, and was surviving on a few hours’ sleep, coffee, and crappy food – but even so, I wasn’t expecting to get truly nauseous towards the end. I guess that’s not all that uncommon for newbies, though, even in good form. Hopefully that doesn’t happen tomorrow. In good news, since ever single pore of my body released about a quart of sweat each, I’m pretty sure if I do this regularly I’ll have flawlessly smooth skin. Oh, I’ll be able to stretch, too.

So the youth Yoga fell through. They’ve cancelled it until the fall.

I’ve been thinking for quite some time about starting Bikram yoga. A friend of mine (Lucreazea here on 43 things) is planning on going when she comes back to town and is looking for people to suffer with her, lol.

They have unlimited classes for a week for $30 at the Metrotown Bikram and that’s where L is planning on going. Might go with her if I can wrangle together the money in time.

    Getting started... 4 months ago

I took my first yoga class back in March in Seattle. It was difficult, and challenging, but relaxing and interesting. I definitely hope to do it again, and hopefully add it to my regular exercise regime.

    First Class 4 months ago

I had my first yoga class today…
    ow….

But it’s free through the queer youth group I used to attend in Vancouver. Yay free! So yeah. Six weeks from now when the class ends, I hope to check off this goal.
