learn to oil paint

I can draw. Now all I need to do is get some tutoring in oil paints

I am on my way to having learned.
Starting was the most important thing.
Now I have everything I need and it is just a matter of keeping it going.

Ok! So I have painted 2 things.
I seriously think they show potential..
I really, really like acrylic paints – less expensive, they seem to work well.
I might as well get good before spending REAL money on my paintings.. I’ll post a photo soon!

Forget it. I’m taking a wheel pottery class instead!

I use to watch Bob Ross painting on PBS. This January I took up painting and since have learned to paint in oils, watercolors, acrylic and even enamel (on glassware). I find it fun and rewarding and others comment that my paintings look nice.

I have sold several, but plow the money right back into canvas and supplies!

I’ve been wanting to learn how to seriously paint for a long time. A few weeks ago my fiance took me out to buy a huge supply of canvases, oil paints, brushes, etc. Last week we bought a desk/chair and tabletop easel just for me to use for painting. Now, how to do it well? I’m still amazed at the support for my interest, no one has ever done anything like it for me. I don’t have to work, either. There is no excuse not to give it my all.

So I’m a long way from being a master, but at least I’ve got some basics down and I’ve done a few pieces to look at. Hopefully I can keep at it and continue to improve.

It’s my last semester of college, and I managed to squeeze in an oil painting class, so I’m on my way to completing this goal. It’s say at midterm I should be able to justify checking it off.

not only for the love of art, but hopefully it will help get all my anger and feelings out on canvas rather than other things and people…
