Win a pageant

I always wanted to do the Miss USA pageants but was waiting until I was at a “real” university and not a community college. Well, a semester before entering a “real” university I had my beautiful son! But, there went the Miss USA pageants! I have recently found some pageants that have Ms. categories which include my age range and family situation. So I am going for it!!!

I entered Miss Student UK.

It’s not quite a beauty pageant nor a scholarship but I think it’d be a good experience!

But really I would love to meet new friends and find a way that I can be better involved with in my own community.

Wow! What an experience! I would recommend doing this to absolutely anyone. I entered more of a scholarship based program rather than a beauty focused one, and winning really boosted my confidence.

My biggest piece of advice is just remember to SMILE! Even if you mess up, just keep on going, and be yourself!

You don’t let it go to your head and you’re really doing it for your platform. It’s a lot of work to prepare for a pageant, and a lot of work to represent your title well. I recommend looking at Miss America Prelims and the Miss/Miss Teen/Mrs International (mrsinternational.com) system.

I started in International and it’s a great system to “train” in – if you will.

I had a great time in pageants- I competed in the Miss America system. I won a local, and competed in the state pageant. It was great fun. Definitely worth it.

Miss Hemisphere and Miss Photogenic 1988. I was 5 and up against girls my age all the way up to 16 years old, I got nervous and cried on the runway. I guess they thought it was cute…

Some people call pageant girls fake and superficial, but I find them absolutely amazing women! I did pageants for a couple of years to help build up money for college- winning $100,000 in college scholarships in two years is definately WORTH IT! :)
