Skate on the Rideau Canal

I missed the window – there was maybe two weeks to skate this year, and from what I heard from others, those two weeks were pretty crappy. Next year I’m going, whether its crappy or not!

The river is in thaw now, so I will renew this next winter

I usually do this every year, except for this year because I moved away to University and when I visited Ottawa the weather was too warm :( But this is a really fun time if you enjoy skating, and even if you can’t skate very well – you’ll be alot better by the time you decide to stop because the canal is so long. You can litterally skate for hours in the same direction and get hot chocolate and beavertails along the way!

Too late. Missed the window this year.
Guess I’ll have to make a more concerted effort next winter.

Not much time left for this one…
I never thought I’d say this, but winter is gonna be over before I’m ready for spring this year!

Every time my partner and I go skating with our daughter (round and round and round and round and round and…..) we say how much we would love to skate on the rideau so we can just…keep going!!!

But beware of the fact that the conditions deteriorate fast when there are thousands of people using the rink. The colder the better

Probably not until next winter, since my wife has a broken ankle and I want my first time to be with her!
