My dear friend Marie spent this afternoon with me teaching me the very basics. Right down to the levers and cogs and showed what they each did. Winding bobins, loading the thread,, stitches etc it was superb and am very grateful to her for starting me off. We sewed a hem on her husbands trousers and she whipped up a tiny skirt for one her sons toys! Simple fun – I loved it :-)

I am going to clear the dining room table tomorrow and collect the sewing macines from my grandad’s house later in the week. I am geniunely excited to start at project. Marie suggested cushion covers to start with and that sounds like a very good place to start!

In total I have 3 sewing machines, one inherited, one found(!) and one I bought myself many years ago. The sad thing is I don’t know even how to thread it let alone create anything. So, my mission is to clear down the dining room table and get them out of storage and work through the instruction booklet and get atleast one of them up and running. I really want to learn and would love to be able to hand make things for presents, clothes and things for around the home!

Also has a sewing machine. We can use our sewing machines together. Yay!

My sewing machine was an impulse buy. I saw these sewing machines being sold in Coles, a supermarket chain here in Australia, for $79.00au, and I thought, I’d like to learn to sew. That was in late 2005, so I’ve had this sewing machine for over a year now, and I’ve never even taken it out of the box. I don’t even know if the thing works, and if it really is a bargain, or if it is simply cheap and nasty.

I never liked sewing when I was at school. Are you wondering now why I bought it? So am I.

I’ve created another profile that is more like a “to do” list.

It's a matter of time 2 years ago

and I think that I will get around to doing this when I’ve moved out. The only drawback to that is that my crafty mother won’t be around to help.

A stitch in time...... 3 years ago

I have a machine, it was a gift from a friend who moved away to Spain (Hi, Gay!) I sort of know how to use it, I must just get round to actually doing so. first….hem jeans!

still in the box... 4 years ago

I will break this out of the box one day and use it. I’d love to know how to sew, it just seems like I can’t find the time.

YEAH!!! 4 years ago

I did it…it is done! I figured it all out and I am in the process of fixing all the stuff I have piled up ready to be fixed! I am so proud…wished there was someone to share this with BUT it is mine and mine alone…Guess you are the only one that gets truly excited when you have accomplished something! Lizza
