I love London so much! I named my youngest daughter London. I would love for my family to spend a year living there.
How to visit or live in London
How I did it: came to uni here, and then stayed, working in a charity, loving life. went to King's for my undergraduate, UCL for my Masters, have toyed with the music industry, worked in some great shops and bars, and moved on to greater things! best job (other than my career!) - sadler's wells ushering.
Lessons & tips: use property websites, go see flats, move in with likeminded people, don't believe that Londoners are unfriendly, live as close to the centre as possible!

If your heart calls out for it than its meant to be. My take on London was, “love the history and theatres”, “hate the traffic and noise.” If you are similar than I would suggest living in a borough outside the city. If you love the lights and a fast-paced lifestyle than London will be your Mecca!
I absolutely love London. I cant wait to go back there. I have to go back to the Gothic restaurant with the bookcase doors and everything.
I live just outside London, and it is one of the most amazing cities in the world. I love the cultural diversity, but most of all, I love Camden Market!
i lived in london for 4.5 weeks. it was good. it was fun. i was slightly hampered by strep throat (thank you frannie =b) which i caught on the plane, then an upper respiratory infection with was a re-flare up about 2 weeks later. i spent about a week of my time total in bed. and i still loved it, despite the suckness of being sick twice.
i learned that i could hang in downtown london by myself, even sick, wandering around like the biggest tourist in the world asking londoners ‘where is the medicenter’ and getting lots of blank stares. actually one very sweet woman said to me ‘oh, i don’t know where that is, precious’. she called me precious! so cute.
finally, a random American businessman walked by while i was asking 2 bobbies about it, and gave me directions. that was amusing. the cops were clueless. seemingly.
45 mins later, as i was coming out of the medicenter with my prescript in hand, i walked past those same 2 cops, on horseback (ten feet from the entrance to the medicenter). the guy who told me he didn’t know what i was talking about smiled at me in that apologetic/amused sort of way my older brothers often did toward me when they got busted.
man he is lucky i didn’t have something to throw. lol
i get grouchy when i am sick.
the experience taught me that yes, i can live in a foreign place, and no, it isn’t as weird/hard/difficult/strange as you think. yes, i would do it again.
London is a really great place to visit or live in, the only problem is the price. London is THE most expensive place in the world (ahead of New York), so if your going you’ll need a budget, and you will have to be careful what you buy. Ohter than that it is really excellent, I suggest St. Paul’s Cathedral and the London Transport Museum.
London is a great place to live at, so many things to do and see; so many different people you’ll get to meet each day. To me it’s not the perfect place to be; but oh well, at least I’m here and living it! Cheer for those who’s aiming for this!
i’ve visted but i want to live there. It’s one of my favorite cities in the world.
