want to write a letter to my estranged neighbor who moved to arkansas
How to write a letter
How I did it: I was raining this evening, and I have friend overseas that I thought about. She will have a great surprise to check the letterbox (instead of inbox)!
Lessons & tips: Its easy. I actually starting getting cramps in my hand because I didn't use those muscles for a while.

I have friends around the world – I would be so happy to get a real letter from them, so why not get started with one of my own!
I just took my pencil and pad of paper and went out walking, and sat on the porch of the community center. I think it helps to find some time outside of time, in a place where the ordinary tug of events doesn’t pull at you. There’s a box in my closet full of the letters my friends wrote to me in old times. E-mail doesn’t hold a candle to that … those memories will always be there, waiting to be touched and held and lingered over, and there is a depth of experience in those words that takes much more time and space to express than most of us these days are willing to give.
lebomatseke it's been way too long!
Wow we really living in a digital world. I automatically typed email instead of letter. I meant that I wanna write a letter to my friend in India. This is a sign that I really HAVE to do it.

I’ve decided that I’m going to write an email to a friend in India and actually post it. I know that sounds weird but mostly people send letters by hand. I wanna put it into that post box flap thing and put a stamp on it and everything. I think I may send friends postcards. Actually I’m gonna post friends that live down the road. Yay I can’t wait.

.. this is a dying art.
A skill and privilege, not to mention what used to be the fastest and easiest way to exchange information. I’m sad that I’ve never written to someone…
emz1983 is having a good day
I’ve just finished writing a letter to my friend Emily. I live in Northern Ireland and she lives in Australia. We usually talk on the phone and email but i think a letter is so much nicer. I hope she writes back I love getting post that’s not bank statements or someone trying to sell me something :)

Strange how no matter how many words you add to a page it weighs the same as it did when it was blank. Sometimes it seems it should be heavier. I wonder where the trees this paper came from grew?
My letter was written over 3 days, and I’ll be mailing it off inside a chock full box tomorrow. This was a good thing.

It’s more of a care package really. An important one. I’m picking a lot of different things to go in it and am halfway through a letter. It’s a hard one though… bittersweet. There’s room for some more memories before I find stamps.
I wrote a reply to a letter a friend from school wrote me. Hopefully we are beginning something we can keep up with for a while. Letter writing will come in handy to keep in touch with friends when I move, eventually.
