Week 3 off 2 weeks ago

Well, I decided to take week three off due to dealing with a massive head cold and congestion. So, this week I will be back at it starting on Tuesday and just pickup as if I hadn’t missed a week. Plus with Veteran’s Day occuring this week, I get to enjoy a day of running hopefully in the sun. :)

Week 2 done 4 weeks ago

All,

I am currently using the Nike+ coach and just finished week 2 of my 28 week program. I am supposed to be ready to run a marathon by April 24, 2010. Week 2 had me run 18 miles total, this week its 21 total miles. The bad news is its been rainy here in Baltimore. I finished my long run on Saturday with 3 miles run in a cloud bursting rain.

The rain is just something I’ll have to get used to as I train even though it is alot more mentally challenging.

This seems like a pretty lofty goal right now, especially because I’ve got a bum knee and hip due to two falls down my stairs within a month of each other – youch! That said, this is something I’ve wanted to do since I was in 6th grade and I’m determined to make it happen even if it takes a while to get me there. Here’s the good news – I’ve started physical therapy which will help me get my body to where it needs to be to run like a gazelle!

Marathon distance, but it’s a 20 week run/walk training program.

Ran the Edinburgh Marathon 2005 3 years ago

I applied for the Londown Marathon 3 times and didn’t get in. Eventually I decided to train anyway and ran the Edinburgh last year. Unfortunatley an old knee injury played up and I ended up slowing almsot to a walk and getting a really slow time (4h23m) but I did feel great when I finished and would love to train again and run the London next time.
