the first time I attempted to swallow a pill. I was probably about 9 or 10 years old and I woke up and had to take gravol for the car trip as my family and I were leaving in about half an hour. So, I popped the pill into my mouth, drank some water, and tried to swallow. Of course, I chickened out (fears that it would be lodged in my throat prevented me from swallowing it). The gravol does not have that hard-shelled coating thus the outside got all wet and slimy and tasted absolutely horrible. I honestly can’t remember if I did manage to swallow it after that.
I really don’t know when I actually managed to swallow a pill (the time previously stated or some time after) but I just think of it now as swallowing food. You chew food, but it’s still in chunks and some chunks can be bigger than these pills. So it’s really no different at all. You just take a big drink of water and swallow with so much water that you can’t even notice you’re swallowing a pill as well. That’s how I taught myself to swallow pills and now I don’t even have to think about it.
