whenever I click to get to my cheers (I need to catch up on 4 or 5 pages of cheers), I’m redirected to the facebook website.
whatthehell.
I don’t want to be on facebook. I just want to catch up on cheers! If you cheered me in the last 2-3 weeks & I haven’t cheered you back yet: sorry. Blame the robots.
Also! I was on facebook for maybe a week (a year ago) and I thought I did delete my account..
How can it impossible to delete a facebook account? That’s not right. If I have to have a facebook account in order to use 43Things, I think I’ll have to delete everything here.
not interested in being on facebook.

Since it’s impossible to eliminate your account, try this:
1. Change your email. Put a fake one or someone you don’t know.
2. Change your password. Type a random password, one that you will forget 10 min later.
(Steps 1 and 2 are to relieve yourself from the temptation of going back)
3. Deactivate your account. Remember to click the checkbox where it says “Not to receive more info. from Facebook”.
I think it will go well from here. I’m not thrilled by the idea right now, but at least I’ll get a more real life. I’m planning to leave MSN Messenger within the next year. Can’t wait!

I deleted my studivz (German facebook) 3 days ago and I am having second thoughts :/ . But I want at least stay that way till the finals are over :)
my reasons for deleting:
- all the stalking (not only being stalked, but also me stalking others)
- being “friends” with people I don’t really care about
- and of course: being addicted

eternalsunlight has decided (despite my behaviour today) to definitely move on
(i’m not copping out – just passing my contact info round so ppl get it in time). I think virtual contact is encouraging me to not have to bother with real life contact. Now I love this website because it’s inspiring and encouraging so it’s different. I think if I actually do have genuine friends on that website, they would make the effort to contact me so I shouldn’t really worry about anything. I guess this is all part of being ‘present’ and clearing clutter/living simply. I’m going to aim to be socially ‘present’ if I am to socialise at all. Freedom!

Gotta Get Rid
And I don’t say ‘gotta’ that often. It’s just pointless to have it – more clutter. I want to mail my actual friends (who probably only make up about 1% of friends i have on there) and tell them i’m done with it. I have facebook friends who I see at work and who barely acknowledge me. Lovely. FB is just about numbers. It’s nice to be able to catch up with people but it’s not enriching my life in any way. I managed to avoid myspace but got lured into facebook (attracted when it used to be a simply laid out website). I’m really happy to be doing this. I can’t believe i’m not the only one. This is good (inspiring – something that FB is not)!

should probably consider deleting my myspace next.

... but it’s totally distracting me during exams so my boyfriend has changed my password so I can’t get into it for the time being.
Kinda the same thing really…

Before I do the deed and rid my life of facebook forever, there are a few things that must be done. They are:
- Contact the people I wish to remain in touch with via facebook or email and gather their contact details. This means inputting numbers in my new phone and finally adding addresses to my email address book!
- Upload all my photos to flickr.
- Save any photos I’ve been meaning to pinch from friend’s profiles.
- Work out what to do with Rebels and Rascals – perhaps make a freewebs for it. Notify members that I’m leaving facebook…
Oh golly goshers I’m excited about this goal!!

I joined facebook many years ago to keep up
with friends still in London & abroard.
It seemed a neat idea to have a page where
all my friends were together & I could send
cutsy gifts & such.
The past year however it has become increasingly
weird with all manner of people sending friend requests.
Some I do not know, others from my past who were never
very friendly when they spoke to me in person !!
Ive always been quite careful to whom Ive given my
email to, but the facebook application seems way
to open to abuse.
Im not the type of person who is very bothered about
how MANY friends I have, just the quality of the
relationships.
Ive just emailed my friends to let them know
& deleted my account. Many already were aware of the
freaky, weirdness I was experiencing.
Warning….
Just deleting your account isn’t enough.
The account stays active & you can still be ‘found’.
You need to delete all posts, friends, photos,
applications etc manually & change name & email.
Then delete.
Im so pleased Ive done it : D
YAY for me….its been bugging me a lot!
