I used to walk for charity fairly regularly and my employer matched donations with what we collected.
How to compete in either a walkathon or marathon
It made me
feel so thankful. 
"Volunteering is so rewarding!"
How I did it: I had a friend who was doing a Walk for Animals for the local Humane Society and asked if I wanted to do it with her, so I did. I love animals and this was a great opportunity to show my daughter about volunteering and earning money for a great cause.
Lessons & tips: Even though I don't like asking money from people to donate toward a cause, I did it. I went mostly to family and close friends so it was easier. Even if you don't earn a lot of money, every bit helps and you can donate money yourself.
