The moment of truth 4 years ago

Last week I didn’t play. I was totally beat up from my trip to Boston. So this week is the moment of truth. Last week of the season. I play four games, and I need to win two of those.

No win tonight 4 years ago

I arrived early tonight and received some valuable training from Coach Christeas, which has yet to sink in completely.

Still, I had two frustrating games. Took a quick 3-0 lead against the league leader, only to fall apart and lose 11-4. Then I fought a close game with another veteran. It was 2-2 with two minutes left, when I decide to fall apart once more, and get scored twice to lose 4-2.

Positive points

  • Got some offense going
  • Did a few successful “botté”s

Not much improvement

  • Goaltending: I need to make a lot more saves on the other guy’s center.

Meawhile, La Menace won one game tonight, so he’s 2 points ahead of me in 6th now. He has only 3 games left on his schedule, I have four. I need to win two of these.

Rookie ambitions 4 years ago

The AJRM is a friendly table hockey league in Montreal, initiated by Peter Christeas. We play on a custom-made table, designed and built by one of the players. It is said to be “the perfect table”.

We’ve got 8 players, and only the first 6 make the playoffs. Of the 8 players, 6 are seasoned veterans on this table, and 2 are rookies. I am one of the rookies. The veterans are insanely skilled. At the beginning of the season, during which we play each other 3 times, for a total of 21 games per player, my only ambition was to not get scored in the double digits every game.

Surprisingly, with 6 games left on my schedule, I am still in contention for a playoff spot, tied for sixth with veteran La Menace. My player name is Mike Liut, by the way. I beat the other rookie twice, and scored two wins against veterans, one against La Menace, and another against Snake. Both of these wins were viewed as huge upsets.

Last week was a tough week, as I lost my 3 games, including a second defeat against La Menace, which allowed him to tie me for 6th place. I’ve got 6 games left, and I believe I need to win at least two of these in order to secure a playoff spot. This means I’ll have to win again against a veteran.

Believe, Enjoy, Trust.
