I made a conscious decision some time ago to throw out my bathroom scales because I was obsessing. I wanted to gauge weight loss on things like the fit of my clothes instead. However most online resources ask for a start weight and a goal weight etc which has made me consider purchasing a new set of scales.
I can’t decide though.

...in order to really get an idea of what I’m doing and what I’m eating I have started a food-and-exercise diary. I suppose there’s a point at which it makes you accountable because you have to set everything down.
I’m only on day two so far though and have surprised myself in lots of ways. Fingers crossed for keeping this up.

...I followed my own advice and I went along with letting people take my picture.
And I hate them all for they make me look like a heifer.
So this goal is going to have to move up the priority list. Oh yes.

As does shock, anger and general upset.

Well, I wanted this to be something that happened gradually and inadvertently as a result of doing stuff like running and modifying my diet to make sure I got my proper intake of fruit and veggies.
I have noticed however that this doesn’t seem to be enough. I think part of the issue is that I’ve not been organised enough over the past couple of weeks and got swamped by rehearsals and work rather than fitting things in around each other.
So I’m Getting Serious. I have decided that I need to do the following:
- create (and stick to) a weekly schedule (which needs to be flexible enough for me to be able to move things around without feeling guilty for missing anything)
- keep a food diary
Meep.

... I don’t want this to be an all-consuming target but in honesty it has become such. I’ll admit that it’s almost always on my mind and I have difficult feeling comfortable in my own skin, not least because I’ve been thinner.
But in honesty, I want this to be a goal I achieve as a result of some of the other goals on my list (running regularly, eating fruit and veg, drinking more water etc) rather than something I concentrate on directly.
Does that make sense?
