Drunken Purchase 8 months ago

I was doing really well here actually until Thursday when a friend and I decided to have some cheeky afternoon drinks along with a late lunch.
After 3 large glasses of wine we decided to head over to Primark a little bit tipsy and hyper, and I bought a pair of bright purple jeans. Luckily they were only £8, but still. I need more will power!

No more drunk trips to the shops :-p

I spend far too much £ at online clothes stores. I already have over 25 dresses, do I really need more?

How I'll do it: 10 months ago

1. Stick to my budget
2. DON”T go shopping to fill a void, find something to DO
3. Think of how long I’ll actually use/keep what I’m buying
4. Think of the impact on the environment (while being made and after I get rid of it)
5. Find ways to improve things I already have

I haven’t been shopping in the past two months at all, because I didn’t have a steady job. But living on a budget can be stressful in itself.

I still have a huge credit card bill to pay down, so no more shoes, and clothes impulse purchases.

Groceries, rent, survival, ahhhhhh

slow but sure progress 14 months ago

in the past year, i’ve managed to save a lot more than expected. i think being busy with a family, i’m prone to staying home or doing something productive (i.e. working out or cooking or delving into my hobbies). so, my goal is to NOT shop for frivolous, excessive, unnecessary stuff for at least 3 months since i won’t be working after this next baby for awhile! i also think it’s funny how when i added this to my 43things, there’s the multiple links in the ads margin taunting you..ha.

Progressing??? 18 months ago

I took my sister shopping for her birthday the other day and told myself I can only buy sunglasses since I really needed new ones (my other ones broke). But I ended up picking up a couple other things. I feel a bit guilty about it, but I know i could have done ALOT worse. I didn’t pick up anything from my favorite store… which my family thought was a miracle! I didn’t spend as much money as I usually would when I go shopping and the things I picked up were on sale and I debated over if i really needed them instead of impulse buying… so i think i’m making progress ! :)

Most of the time I shop for too many clothes. I want to stop doing this, and maintain my present wardrobe neatly!

I'm about to just give up... 18 months ago

I can say I’ve improved from a couple years ago because I used to work next to a mall and would go over there after work all the time and pick up a “few” things. Now I don’t work or live near a mall and I don’t have a car of my own so I shop a little less. However, when I do get a chance go shopping, I splurge. I will be good for about a month and not go shopping at all and then I’ll decide I need 1 thing and end up buying 50 things. I spend way too much money considering I have a loan to pay… I really need to cut back (notice I didn’t say “stop”?)

now that I don’t have money, it’s easier to save every cent I have. I said it’s not worth it, it’s not something I wanted to do =[
