since my pregnancy ended rather abruptly (to say the least), two months early, all I’ve got to do is find a way to finish it off! I’ve been keeping it up to date, thankfully. Maybe post a page journaling what went wrong and why Piper was born early. Other than that, it’s done and looks good!
Now to start on a “First Year” scrapbook….
;) It never ends!

It’s about that time. This is the last week of my second trimester, which means it’s time for another trimester timeline page. This one is going to be full—first movements, first ultrasound, etc. Exciting!

Tonight I did a few pages and still have a couple left to do yet. The first one is the ultrasound we had with the high-risk doctor. The second focuses on the letters I made for above her crib, and the third one is Piper’s first piggybank that my husband bought her (and has already filled). I’ve still got to finish the page on the tour we took of the birthing unit, and the page about hubby’s “first” Father’s Day.
and no, that’s not real money in the last one. color copies! even the coins :)

I think I’m going to include a page or two featuring current events throughout my pregnancy. So from, what, January to September? I think it’ll be something fun for Piper to read about…what was going on, the silly things our culture was worried about, while she was cluelessly baking in my belly :)
Thus far, I have:
- 2009 is the last year of the 2000s decade. Year of the Ox (Chinese)
- Peanut butter recall: Jan 10
- 66th Golden Globes: Jan 11
...Best Picture: “Slumdog Millionaire”
...Best Actor: Mickey Rourke, “The Wrestler”
...Best Actress: Kate Winslet, “Revolutionary Road” - US Airways Flight 1549 crashes Hudson River, all survive: Jan 15
- Barack Obama sworn in as 44th, and first black president: Jan 20
- President Obama signs an order to close Guantanamo Bay within one year: Jan 22
- Octuplets born to “Octo-Mom”: Jan 27
- 81st Academy Awards: Feb 22
...Best Picture: “Slumdog Millionaire”
...Best Actor: Sean Penn, “Milk”
...Best Actress: Kate Winslet, “The Reader” - Actress Natasha Richardson (Parent Trap) dies: Mar 18
- “Swine flu” panics Mexico and U.S.: Apr 24
- Actress Bea Arthur (Golden Girls) dies: Apr 25
- Last Titanic survivor, Millvina Dean, dies: May 31
- General Motors files for bankruptcy: June 1
I’ll keep compiling interesting facts for the next few months and then put it all together.

Scrapping...
Three more pages done! The gender page, a journaling page for that day, and then a page for the day we put the crib together. It’s coming along nicely.

I’ve been so preoccupied with this move that I haven’t kept up with the scrapbook. I need to do the page for the day we found out the gender, and a page for when we set up her crib. Augh! Maybe next week sometime….

It’s 3 am and I’m finally done with my newest set of pages. Photos of my growing belly will be in each petal, starting with the second month of pregnancy. It’s titled “Bloomin Belly.” Each petal has small dots around it, and toward the top they all say what month they stand for. The letters are small in the above photo but definitely readable in person. They’re not so big that they take away from the daisy. It’s exactly what I wanted and now…off to bed :)

I found a scrapbook I like. It’s neutral but cute; it looks like a stitched quilt. There’s a little strip below the photo frame where I can add the baby’s name to personalize it.
And I did a page for my earlier journal entries. I can’t wait until we get our camera next month and we can go out and get some great belly photos! We have so many ideas for shots and we’re just waiting for my stomach to get ginormous for them :)

I just had my first OB appointment this morning, and I’ve already finished my page for it :) Doing the scrapbook in real time keeps it easier for me and definitely more fun. Plus my thoughts are still fresh in my mind so I can journal better.

Hubby and I sat down and wrote our little letters to the baby. They’re pretty short and sweet, but there will be a lot of journal entries in the scrapbook too, so our thoughts will be expressed anyway. My two favorite pages so far: the one where we chose names, and then this new letter one. My husband got to burn the edges of the letter paper in the garage…you should have seen his little pyro eyes light up. Afterwards he looked at me and said, “I looove scrapbooking.”
Ha!
